ICOBW x TSF Outdoor Art

In the Summer of 2022 I was asked to collaborate with In Care Of Black Women (ICOBW), Taylor Street Farms (TSF) and The National Public Housing Museum (NPHM) to design and paint a public art piece at Taylor Street Farms, located behind the Chicago Public Library Little Italy Branch.

We met with community members, families and stakeholders to talk about what their vision of this space could look like an dwhat they wanted it to represent.

I painted the final seating structures that we collectively built under the guidance of ICOBW. The inspiration of the designs came from the fruits and veggies that grow in our gardens as well as the imagery and words the community members shared during our ideation meetings.
