Hibiscus

The seed for this artwork was literally planted in a community garden on the West Side of Chicago in Garfield Park in 2024. I chose to grow it as it is one of the crops that I am deeply connected to, it is also the national flower of Ayiti!

After traveling to several countries throughout the Caribbean and African Diaspora I have come across Hibiscus tea in many forms, made with various spices and always served with love!

This screenprint is my ode to the global nature of Hibiscus tea and the many names it is called throughout the world.
